![]() If you look at what has been said by S-E for Octopath Traveler, the game sold more than what they anticipated and has been a huge success: No matter what S-E do, people will always complain about the price. Imagine people crying because they have to pay double the amount because they choose Nintendo. And even S-E would feel the outcry if they were to do that. I just can't imagine S-E would be allowed to do this. #4 Do you think this would be acceptable to Nintendo to allow S-E to sell their game half price on other platform? This would totally destroy Nintendo. ![]() That's not something you would be able to do on steam. I originally bought Octopath on switch, then once the game came out on PC I was able to sell my switch game to a friend. This allows them to maintain price and it just makes total sense when people are allowed to sell their cartridge to their friends once they have finished. They battle against Sony and Microsoft to stay alive so no surprise they wanna keep their exclusive title for themselves so people have to buy their console if they want to play Zelda or Mario. They don't sell any of their games on other platform than theirs. #2 Most publisher will take 50% whereas Steam takes only 30% #1 Cartridge cost a lot more to produce than a blu-ray disc or any digital download ![]() ![]() ![]() Now consider that games on Nintendo are sold on cartridge by your local retail store. Almost all games sells for 80$ (canadian dollar) even Zelda Breath of the Wild which release a year prior to Octopath still sells for 80$ Because it's a game initially developed for the switch console. ![]()
